    Galerie Marcel Bernheim, Paris.

This very characteristic view illustrates the poplars that lined the river winding through the village of Labastide-du-Vert near Cahors, where Martin retreated in search of tranquility. This familiar scene was often re-visited by Martin and appears a number of times in his later compositions.
