Footnotes

  • Cherry Lass was a bay filly foaled in 1902 by the Triple Crown winner Isinglass out of Black Cherry and was a half-sister to Black Arrow. In 1905 she won both the 1,000 Guineas and the Oaks before failing in a bid to win the fillies' Triple Crown by finishing a creditable third in the St Leger. Cherry Lass won a total of 10 races including the Anglesey Stakes at The Curragh, the Free Handicap at Newmarket, the St James's Palace Stakes at Ascot, the Duchess of York Stakes at Hurst Park, the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood and the Newmarket Oaks. Another successful filly from the Colonel Hall-Walker stud.
