An inside-painted glass snuff bottle
Yan Yutian
Oversized, of compressed ovoid form with a concave lip, an oval foot rim surrounding a shallow recessed foot, one side painted to depict a scholar's rock, spray of prunus blossom, potted grass and lingzhi mushroom, bearing a signature of Yan Yutian followed by a painted seal, a figure leading a camel through a snowy landscape painted to the reverse.

    Yan Yutian was active beginning in the waning years of nineteenth century Beijing. A Manchu by birth, he painted another bottle with a camel led by a tether in the Bloch collection.
