A molded porcelain snuff bottle with nine Buddhist lions
Jiaqing mark and period
Of flattened ovoid form with a flat gilded lip and an oval concave foot bearing a four character Jiaqing mark in seal script in iron red, the body of the bottle crisply molded with nine Buddhist lions at play amid clouds, red ruyi lappets at the shoulder and foot, and a leiwen border around the neck.

    A similar bottle in the Bloch collection is illustrated in Robert Kleiner Chinese snuff bottles from the collection of George and Mary Bloch, p. 166, no 223, where it is noted that porcelain bottles in this style were created from molds taken from ivory bottles dating from the second half of the eighteenth century.
