A Grainger reticulated silver capped scent bottle
late 19th century
Of flattened circular form, both walls pierced with a central quatrefoil design surrounded by scrolls and leaves, within moulded circle and dot borders, the detail highlighted in gold and turquoise enamel, with silver chased enamel screw lid; together with a teardrop scent bottle, decorated with orange and purple flowers and green and brown leaves on a cream coloured ground, with a silver screw lid by Charles May, Birmingham circa 1900, an egg-shaped example, the pale pink ground with gilt floral detailing, hinged cap and chain, a large fluted example with russet coloured flowers, the silver screw lid by Sampson Mordan & Co, London 1887, a cylindrical example with green and purple flowers, the silver screw top by Charles May, Birmingham 1886 and a silver and silver-gilt etui case, apparently unmarked, of octagonal form with gilt zig-zag bands.
