A George II silver two-handled cup and cover

Tapering form with applied girdle, the stepped dome cover with waisted banded disc finial, leaf-capped scroll handles, the body and cover profusely chased and embossed with floral garlands, central foliate scroll reserve, on a stepped circular base with chased foliate band, engraved with a coat of arms, height 33cm, weight 65oz.

  • Engraved with the lozenge for a marriage in the LYNN, LYNNE or LYNDE family. The family using this shield orignated in Cambridge and by 1753 were spread through Northants, Devon and London.
