A George III silver two-handled cup and cover
Maker's mark AP, probably by Abraham Portal, London 1764
The urn-shaped body chased and embossed in high relief with an upper band of floral swags above alternate spiral flutes decorated with graduated beads and flowers, the scroll handles capped with frosted acanthus leaves and the whole raised on a domed and spread circular foot with embossed decoration, engraved with a coat of arms to one side and a crest opposite, the pull-off high-domed cover applied with a large knop finial, height 36.5cm, weight 51oz.
