Four Victorian silver novelty 'Punch' magazine pin trays
by A & J Zimmerman Ltd, Birmingham, 1896-99
Of shaped-rectangular form with anthemion leaf borders, the centre cast with a scene of Mr Punch painting a dog in a feathered hat below the title "PUNCH", length 10.4cm; together with a further pin tray, by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Ltd, London 1862 of shaped-rectangular form, plain with reeded border, three graduating bowls, the smallest by Richard Martin & Ebenezer Hall, Birmingham 1903, wavy rim, flat-chased with floral husks, diameter 7.2cm, the other two by James Wakely & Frank Clarke Wheeler 1898-1900, profusely embossed with flowers and c-scrolls, the larger with scroll cartouche engraved 'Eileen', the other raised on a circular spreading foot, diameters 9.6cm and 12cm, and a Dutch import silver casket, by A.D Verschuur, 1861, with import marks for Samuel Boyle Landeck, Sheffield 1897, shaped-rectangular form with serpentine sides, reeded rims, the stepped lid with floral engraving, the inside engraved with date, weight 29.5oz. (9)
