A George III silver swing handle basket
by Hester Bateman, London 1781
Oval form, with beaded borders and pierced guilloche rims, the lower sides pierced with slats, the upper body with bright engraved husk swags alternating with classical urns enclosed within pierced cartouches, raised on a pierced oval collet foot, the handle similarly engraved, crested, length 34.6cm, weight 25oz.
