Footnotes

  • The vase was originally located in the board room of the 'Refuse Insurance' building in Manchester, a celebrated building which was designed approx 1888 by Alfred Waterhouse. In 1985 the vase was purchased during the building's disbursement sale and remained in private hands until it featured in the 2002 William De Morgan Exhibition at Blackwell House overlooking Lake Windermere.
