A tall Satsuma six-sided cylindrical vase
Attributed to Ryozan, Meiji Period
Decorated in enamels and gilt with two large rectangular panels, one showing a group of karako elaborately dressed and carrying accoutrements and other paraphernalia as they enact a Korean procession, the other panel depicting ladies in an interior engaged in scholarly pursuits, the neck and shoulder with stylised ho-o birds, kiri-mon and other stylised florettes on a blue ground; the base signed with a partly-effaced signature.
