In the form of a massive tai (red sea bream) fish, naturalistically rendered with an oval, compressed body and two rows of slender teeth lacquered in grey, the details of the scales, fins and tail intricately rendered in gold and slight-red hiramakie, a section of the body detachable to form the cover, the interior of rich nashiji, unsigned; with lacquer storage box. 34.5cm (13 5/8in) long.
