18th to 19th century
The first of iron, Awa type, of circular form with raised rim, applied in gold nunome with shaped panels of scrolling peony blooms, unsigned, 8.2cm (3¼in); the second of oval form, inlaid with the crescent moon in silver, the reverse engraved with a poem, inscribed Goto Ichijo saku, 6.3cm (2½in); the third of shibuichi, carved with a tiger in a cave, signed and dated Meiji gonen hachigatsu, Otsuryuken Masayuki with kao, 7cm (2¾in); the fourth of shakudo nanako, of mokko form, Mino Goto type with a gilt dragon in relief, signed Goto Mitsuharu with kao, 6cm (2 3/8in); with wood storage boxes.
