A shakudo sukashi tsuba
Mito School, late 18th century
In the form of a ho-o bird, its head at the top and its wings spread down in either side to form a rim, with inlaid and applied gold and silver details, signed Mito ju Hisanori with kao.

    The maker is Chizuka Hisanori, who worked in the Mito and Nara styles and was a retainer of the Matsudaira family of Moriyama (see Haynes, Index, no.H01508).
