Bearing a pale, pinkish-tan ground, lacquered with two flying ho-o birds among scattered clouds in brown, green, red and ochre lacquer, the interior of black lacquer with kinji edges, unsigned.

    The Johana technique was developed in the town of Johana in Toyama prefecture and is a variation of togidashi and has the finished appearance of fine cloisonnè enamel.
