Mandi, Sikh period, circa 1820-40
Opaque watercolor and gold on paper; the prince and his two attendants set within a raised pavilion look down on the scene of the sage charging on to the terrace preparing to draw his sword. Two unarmed attendants rush to subdue him while two maidens gesture their surprise.
