A gilt copper alloy ritual libation ewer (kalasha)
Tibeto-Chinese, 18th/19th century
Raised on a spreading lotus foot, the pear-shaped body set with a long tapering spout issuing from the mouth of a dragon and secured to the body by interlinked square earrings. Set opposite a slender S-shaped dragon-headed handle. The dome lid with a precious jewel finial. The ovoid body is finely work with multiple beaded swags issued from kirrtimukha masks around the shoulder.
