A wood figure of the Krishna as the butter thief
Mysore, 19th century
The infant Krishna kneels down to steal the butter from the pot set before him. His plump form is finely carved and adorned, with his hair arranged in scrolling tresses along his back and his scarf falling in delicate pleats from his shoulder.
