The deep rectangular base with a raised thick rim is inset with an eight-niche well. Each niche is cusped and connects at a shared rosette roundel, with stylized palmettes projecting at each corner.

They are located in the Jahaz Mahal, or Ship Palace, the romantic pleasure-dome erected on the shores of a lake by Sultan Ghiyath ud din Khalji, ruler of Malwa (Central India) 1469-1500.
