Circa 1630
Having a triple panelled hinged lid, the front with a pair of stylized flowerhead carved panels, the top-rail carved with flower-petal filled lunettes, remaining rails channel-moulded and gauge carved, 112cm wide x 49cm deep x 56.5cm high, (44" wide x 19" deep x 22" high)

  • Literature: V.Chinnery, Oak Furniture The British Tradition, p.116, fig.2:125, illustrates a coffer, dated to circa 1620, with a stylized flowerhead carved to each front panel that employs similar petals as found on the top-rail of this lot.
