Five pieces of decorative carving
To include a giltwood and polychrome-decorated pediment, probably a picture-frame pediment, the foliate cresting centred by an ebonised cartouche, a tulip carved to the arched frieze, 48cm wide x 29cm high, together with a carved and gilt-highlighted oak mount, in the Baroque manner, carved as a curly-haired maiden cradling a child or putti, resting on a pair of foliate scrolls, 52cm wide x 22cm high, a stained beech carving of a pair of cherubs, embracing and looking upwards, seated on a later black-painted support, 25cm wide x 26cm high, a carved oak pilaster or term, topped by an Ionic capital above a cherub with hands clasped as if at prayer, the corbel just below carved with the face of a dog or a lion, issuing a leafy garland from its mouth, 69.5cm high, and a walnut carving of Christ, beneath a basket full of flowers and fruit, 38cm high, (5)
