A rare, if not unique, mid Victorian beadwork on silk teapot
Of bellied conical form on a circular spreading foot, with a scroll-shaped handle and spout, the conical lid with a flowerhead finial; the body and lid covered with raised polychrome floral beadwork, featuring rosebuds, fuchsias, bindweed and other flowers; the finial, spout, handle and foot printed with fern designs; the silk interior with beadwork covered seams and a silk spout strainer,
height 12cm x length 17.5cm x width 13cm.

  • An accompanying letter from the Victoria and Albert Museum states that the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery hold a similar embroidered satin cream jug and sugar basin, but no trace of these can currently be found.
