California car from new, last on the road in 1981
1965 Jaguar E Type 4.2 Liter Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe
Chassis no. IE 30723
Engine no. 7E 2860-9
This is a timewarp example of Jaguar's iconic E Type, the design of which has now reached the 50 year landmark. Last year's anniversary seems only to have drawn fresh attention and renewed appreciation of these elegant and highly usable British collector cars and we offer here rarely found unspoilt and original coupe from the first series of production.
Jaguar Heritage has confirmed that the coupe, manufactured on February 17, 1965, left Coventry in the resplendent livery of Opalescent Silver Blue with a dark blue interior. Its first registered owner documented as Valker Ward Leasing Co. of San Francisco, California.
The car remained on the West Coast its entire life and was recently discovered after 30 years of proper storage in Colorado. The 'E' appears to have had a relatively easy life with service documentation showing its mileage had only reached 67,000 by 1981 (prior to storage). This lack of use has only served to protect its identity and detail, such that its engine block number as well as chassis, gearbox and all body numbers tally with its Heritage Certificate.
This generation of cars is known to be the most classic and drivable of early E Types and this coupe in its fantastic color way of Opalescent blue represents a rare opportunity to own a unique, unmolested original car.
