According to the Heritage Certificate for this car it was completed new in black paint and with a grey interior and had factory extras of wire wheels and a rear bumper. It was then shipped to the U.S. in May 1961, to be supplied through Daimler Cars Inc. to dealer R.M. Grossmann.

Nostalgia is a key component of the car collecting hobby, owners frequently 'buying back their youth' in the form of a car that they desired when young, or a family member had. The tale of this SP250 is just one such story as Barry Flynn had originally bought this car in 1969 and then after five years sold it to Richard Gallant of Ipswich, MA. Some 17 years were to elapse, before he was able to re-acquire it from Gallant.

In a substantial history file is correspondence and invoices from throughout the car's last two ownerships, stretching back to Flynn's first ownership when he had written to Jaguar Cars Ltd. in the U.K. seeking a source of spare parts.

By the time he bought the car back it was in poor order and he immediately began a comprehensive restoration with the aim of bringing the car to its exact original specification and to concours condition. Work was entrusted to various sources, including New England Automotive Restorations, Circle Finishing of Newburyport, MA who redid the chrome, P.D. Gough in the U.K. provided correct exhausts,

The result is a truly stunning example, the original colors setting the car off well, the contrast of the interior and chrome with the black bodywork. Shortly after its completion a painting of the car was commissioned from artist Mike DiFazio, this elegant artwork sets the car in its Maine home and was featured fully in color on the cover of a 1996 issue of Old Cars Weekly.

An exemplary restoration which was subsequently well maintained, this remains a beautifully presented example of its breed and is deserving of close inspection.
