A Jerry Garcia original artwork, airbrush on heavy paper, Wetlands II
Signed in lower, right corner, matted, glazed and framed; in fine condition. With Certificate of Authenticity from Roberta Weir.
According to Roberta: "'Wetlands II' is one of a series of large paintings in acrylic colors on heavyweight paper. The artist was recovering from an illness in 1986 when he took up the medium of airbrush. Though he began with airbrush equipment, he was known to use spray paint as well, and made and used stencils to create the planes and edges of crystalline forms in Blue Iceberg, Facets I and Facets II, the other paintings in the series of five. In the Wetlands paintings, the image is made of braod mists of color, enlivened by slender stems of water plants. In Wetlands II, flowing strokes define a lush and supple plant in the foreground. The subject of wetlands is a recurring theme in the artist's drawings and paintings, and shows his enjoyment of painting water and reflections. This image, along with Wetlands I, are among the most popular and sought after of the artist's entire print catalog."
