of very dense wood, probably ironwood (Casuarina equisetifolio), the round handle with a carved lug gradually leading to a flattened diamond-shaped head defined by a pair of transverse raised lines at the collar, the surface decorated overall with a perforated dot technique of geometric design; fine dark-brown aged patina.
