1980 Honda CB650Z
Registration no. MKV 957V
Frame no. RC03-2003526
Engine no. RC03E-2003576
Introduced in 1979, the CB650 was one of the final four-cylinder models to use the single-cam engine that had first appeared in the legendary CB750 of 1968, Honda already having moved on to twin cams and four valves per cylinder for its larger motorcycles. This example was restored by the previous owner. Described by the vendor as a 'last nut and bolt' restoration, the rebuild was completed in 2010/2011 at a cost of over £4,000 (see invoices on file). Since acquisition the machine has been further improved by the current vendor, who fitted new exhaust down-pipes and silencers, which are original Honda parts obtained from USA at a cost of approximately $500 (around £300). At the time of consignment 'MKV 957V' had covered an indicated mileage of 1,192 since restoration and won 'Best in Show' prizes at two events it was taken to in 2012 (trophies included in the sale). The machine is offered with copy parts book, current road fund licence, MoT to July 2013 and Swansea V5C.
