Lot Details
1961 James 199cc Captain
Registration no. 151 NYH (see text)
Frame no. CL20 1352
Engine no. 20T 2044
This James Captain is offered with green continuation logbook (issued 1971) and old/current Swansea V5/V5C documents. Mr Stuart Roach (one of its previous owners) has confirmed that this motorcycle was originally registered '151 NYA' (a Somerset mark), the change to '151 NYH' probably occurring as the result of a transcribing error at the DVLA in the 1980s. Mr Roach bought the James from dealer Anderson & Walls of St Mary Street, Bridgwater in 1967. After an accident he purchased some second-hand parts from Anderson & Walls to rebuild it, including the frame from another 1961 James Captain. The rebuilt James was then sold to one D Cox of Spaxton, Somerset circa 1969/70. It should also be noted that the engine has been changed though the original unit is still recorded on the V5/V5C.
