two handled cup with lid, scrolled handles, foliate borders and base on reeded stem, the lid with leaf acanthus decoration and acorn finial, engraved with BARC monogram and '38th Lightning Long Handicap. 1st Prize, 8th June 1927.', hallmarked London 1927, markers mark Richard Comyns London, 38cm tall.

Footnotes

  • One of the other postponed races was the 38th Lightning Long Handicap, which was won by Jack Dunfee in his Ballot at 101.91 mph, just beating E.L.Meeson in his Vauxhall. There were only two finishers as Cobb turned up the Finishing Straight thinking the race was over when someone rang the bell too early!
