Footnotes

  • A description of two journeys to Greece. On the first (1803), in company with Sir William Gell, Dodwell visited the Ionian Islands and the Troad. In 1805-1806, with the artist Simone Pomardi, he explored mainland Greece (including Athens and the Acropolis), collected antiquities, and re-visited the Ionian Islands. His collection of antiquities (including the famous Dodwell Vase collected at Corinth), was sold to the Munich Glyptothek.
