Footnotes

("How I caught my Irish man") depicts von Wundt at the head of a table with a map of the Dardanelles behind him. To his left is a standing figure who bears a striking resemblance to Winston Churchill. The cartoon is presumed refer to Churchill's involvement, whilst First Lord of the Admiralty, in the disastrous Gallipoli Campaign of 1915 which forced him from government. The other cartoon, "Drunten im unterstand do ists halt schön" ("In the dugout it's cosy") shows von Wundt with fellows Officer identified as Alber, Ruoff, Basil, Lach and Köhler.
