  • A fine example of a "vellucent" vellum binding by Chivers of Bath. The covers were designed and executed by Dorothy Carleton Smyth (signed "Dodo Smyth" on the lower cover), and showing women posing languidly amongst flowers, birds, peacocks and a sundial, in the style associated with the Glasgow School of Art (where Smyth was a student) and popularized by Jessie M. King, who herself was on occasion employed by Chivers.
