A FINE COPY: "Des trois éditions de Pallavicino données par les Elzevier, celle-ci est la plus complète et la plus estimée" (Willems). This was the first Elzevir edition to include La Rettorica delle puttane ("The Rhetoric of Whores"); written in the form of a dialogue between an aged prostitute and her naive apprentice, and first published in 1642, it was the work which finally sealed the fate of the satyrist and anti-Jesuit Pallavicino, who fled Venice and was eventually betrayed and executed by the Papal authorities at Avignon.
