Letter signed ("George R") and subscribed, to the King to the Two Sicilies (Charles VII of Naples and Charles II of Sicily, future Charles III of Spain), expressing delight at the news conveyed in his letter of 24 November that his Queen has been "safely brought to bed of a Princess"; with conjoint address leaf bearing two red wax seals attached two the remains to two pink silt ties, contemporary docket dating the receipt, one page, very slight browning (from seals), 4to, St James's, 31 December 1745

  • Princess Maria Luisa, born on 24 November 1745, was fifth daughter and second surviving child of Charles and Maria Amalia (builder of the Caserta Palace), and went on to marry Leopold II, the Holy Roman Emperor; and it was to be for their coronation as King and Queen of Bohemia in 1791 that Mozart wrote La Clemenza di Tito.
