WISE (THOMAS JAMES)
Four autograph letters signed by William G. Kingsland, to Thomas J. Wise, Secretary of the Browning Society, discussing his new edition of Browning, issued by Jarvis after the poet's death ("...Jarvis is going to issue a new and enlarged issue of my little Browning. Can you give me any advice thereon? Is it necessary, now the old poet is dead, to get fresh permission for use of extracts in the new edition? Also, Jarvis wants a copy of the letter Browning wrote you giving permission for such extracts...") and enlisting his aid ("...I fear introductory chapter will be more of 'bibliography' than biography difficult to get facts of life. Have you any letters referring to any special poem, or that would illustrate such, that you could let me quote; or could you get one of two out of Furnivall?.."), 5 pages, one on a postcard with address and postmark, 8vo, Thornhill Square, later pencilled dates ranging between 1893 and 1916, postcard postmarked 23 January 1890
