Collection of presentation copies, greetings cards, autograph letters and notes etc., to his godson (Bernard) Mark Leahy and to Mark's parents Phyllis and Bernard Leahy, the collection comprising: 3 autograph letters signed (one to Mark, written on Christmas Day, 1957, with thanks for a book); 4 typed letters or notes signed, including a letter of condolence to Phyllis following the death of Bernard, and a letter with autograph continuation ("... that looks pretty smug & formal doesn't it... though I don't know what I'll do with my C.B.E."); 12 signed Christmas cards or short notes; a transcription by Betjeman of Hardy's winter poem The Darkling Thrush; and 6 presentation or inscribed copies, including 2 small prayer books, 2 collections of Betjeman's poems, and a copy of his Vintage London (1942, inscribed "To Phyllis Leaky/ from her admirer/ the brilliant author/ of this book who was not/responsible for the wretchedness/ of the reproductions, in/ memory of Uffington/ John Betjeman/ IX.IX.MCMXLV"), various sizes, 1940s-1960s (small quantity)
