FIRST STATES of The Sea Fairies and its sequel. Having completed six Oz books in 1910, Baum embarked on a new series about a little girl named Trot and her faithful company, peg-legged sailor Cap'n Bill. Although both contained pictures by John R. Neill who illustrated all of the Oz books but The Wizard of Oz, and though Baum had introduced previous visitors to Oz Button-Bright and Polychrome in the second of his Trot Tales, the series was not a success. Baum resumed the Oz books in 1913. Baum considered Sky Island to be his best fairy tale next to The Wizard of Oz.
