The movement marked JBD, 37015
The oval case applied with a tied ribbon among oak and other leaves on a shaped foliate scroll base with lobed feet, further set with four shaped porcelain panels depicting cherubs within gilt borders on a pink ground, the 4 inch Roman dial with recessed centre and visible Brocot escapement, set over the calendar dial with concentric month dial detailing the equation of time in minutes, enclosing twin subsidiaries for day of the week and date of the month, with an aperture for phases of the moon, the signed and numbered movement striking on a bell, the perpetual calendar movement numbered 35596 42cms (16.5ins) high.

  • The initials JBD on the movement are a monogram of Jean Baptiste Delettrez who is recorded as living in Paris circa 1845 until circa 1885.
