The rectangular case surmounted by a cast foliate knopped handle over a shaped panel engraved with a terrier pursuing a hedgehog through scrolling foliage, between four fluted finials, the dentil cornice supported by fluted Doric columns flanking the side panels, each engraved with animal heads within foliage, the back cover with a sprung handle and shell knop, the 2 inch silvered, engine turned Roman dial with subsidiary seconds, blued steel hands and cast gilt scrolled foliage within a foliate engraved mask centred on a dove and grotesque mask, the signed and numbered single fusee movement with lever escapement and monometallic balance on substantial plates united by three tapered pillars; together with the original tooled leather travel case (lid detached). 12.5cm (5in) high.
