1961 NSU Prinz 30 Saloon
Chassis no. 4080929
With the launch of the Ewald Praxl-designed Prinz in 1957 NSU re-established itself as a car manufacturer in its own right after a break of 28 years. A two-door, four-seater mini-car constructed along typically Continental lines, the Prinz was rear engined and equipped with all-independent suspension. Designed by Albert Roder, the engineer responsible for NSU's motorcycle engines, the air-cooled, overhead-cam, twin-cylinder power unit displaced 583cc and developed 23hp in the Prinz I, while later models could be ordered with a more powerful (30bhp) unit. Introduced in 1961, the Prinz 4 was built on a longer wheelbase and featured the distinctive 'bath tub' body style most readily associated with the model. A 598cc engine and an all synchromesh gearbox were standard, and in this form the Prinz was good for 70mph plus while delivering excellent fuel economy. 'Fahre Prinz und Du bist Koenig' (drive a Prince and you are a king) was adopted as the advertising slogan. Production ceased in 1973.
Rare and unusual, this Prinz 30 delivered new to Italy and is described as in generally very good original condition and good working order. The car is finished in beige with black vinyl interior and comes with Italian registration documents.
