1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Roadster
Chassis no. UE1S25758
Engine no. 7S15789LA
One consequence of the E-Type's long process of development had been a gradual increase in weight, but a good measure of the concomitant loss of performance was restored in 1971 with the arrival of the Series III V12. Weighing only 80lb more than the cast-iron-block 4.2-litre XK six, the new all-alloy, 5.3-litre, overhead-camshaft V12 produced 272bhp, an output good enough for a top speed in excess of 140mph. Further good news was that the 0-100mph time of around 16 seconds made the V12 the fastest-accelerating E-Type ever. Produced until 1975, the Series III E-Type continued the Jaguar tradition of offering a level of performance and luxury unrivalled at the price.
This desirable, manual-transmission Series III roadster was purchased by the immediately preceding owner in 2004, having already been restored to the very highest standards. Indeed, it is understood that the E-Type won the Jaguar Car Club of North America's National Championship in 2000. The car was purchased by the current vendor in August 2007, since when the unattractive US-specification bumpers have been replaced by the much more elegant European type. Finished in British Racing Green with tan leather interior and equipped with chromed wire wheels, this well restored late-model E-Type is described as in generally very good condition, having been serviced regularly, and is offered with Netherlands registration papers.
