An Omura wakazashi
Edo period
Nagasa: 49cm; shinogi zukuri, saki zorki with mitsu-hi and bonji inscribed on the hi, chu-kissaki, hakikake, yasuhihada, sambontsugi hamon with silver habaki, the blade inscribed Namu Myoho Renge-kyo, reversed by a bonji symbol, the tang inscribed with the date Hoei go, tsuchinoe-ne, nen (=1708) and signed Musashi Taro Yasukuni followed by shin jugo-mai kobusa de tsukuru (made by the genuine 15-fold technique);
Koshirae: Goto-school style fuchi-kashira with leafy vines and gold blossoms on a nanako ground; a pair of gold and shakudo menuki of a rat feeding on a daikon radish; a round shakudo tsuba incised with cloud scrolls; plain black lacquer saya; (losses, menuki glued to ray skin).
