Two Tibetan gilt metal repoussé plaques
16th/17th century
Fragments from a large pedestal, each worked in high relief with an animated temple lion standing guard with a cintamani ornament on its head, a long curly mane frames crisply defined facial features, one with traces of red pigment on the open month, each accented with tufts of curls and other features retaining the darker hue of the metal and with a partial border with floral motifs to one side.
