Footnotes

  • Provenance:
    ex-collection Denver Art Museum

The group of album leaves may date before 1945 since the signature and seal read Unpo. At the end of World War II, the artist changed the second character in his fancy name so that it is read Unbo. For a hanging scroll of eonies and bird with the earlier signature and seal, see Hang'uk Kundae Hoewha Sonjip Volume 9, Kim Kichang/Partk Rae-hyon (Kumsong Publishing Company, 1990), cat. no. 1 (color) and p. 110.
