A blue and white porcelain stem bowl
Kangxi period, dated by inscription to 1715
The bowl of compressed globular form, painted in underglaze blue beneath the raised rim with a long inscription recording the names of a number of donors who dedicated the cup as an offering to Guanyin in the yiwei fifty-fourth year of the Kangxi reign, written above a dragon and phoenix band, the cylindrical stem displaying a ribboned chime, lozenge and pearl and the spreading foot painted with clouds, the celadon-tinged glaze covering most surfaces and burnt cinnamon brown along the rim and foot.
