A fine and massive blue and white porcelain yenyen vase
Kangxi period
Molded with a flared trumpet neck above a bulbous body terminating in a flared base above a set-in foot; decorated on both sides with two muscular four-clawed dragons, each writhing towards a flaming pearl through tumultuous cresting waves and swirling pools interspersed with jagged rocks, the scene punctuated with contrasting areas of deep cobalt and pale cobalt that are repeated on the upper section, all framed with repetitive cloud bands; the glaze of pale blue tinge evenly applied to all surfaces except the foot pad.
