Property from a Private Ohio Collection
A straw glazed pottery amphora Tang dynasty
Modeled with a pair of curving clay coil handles with applied lugs, scrolls and ears to suggest a dragon head wrapping its jaws around the cupped mouth supported on a waisted neck above a body of inverted pear form, the pale yellow-green glaze displaying a dense web of minute craze lines and stopping unevenly to expose the buff clay fabric on the lower body and flat base.
15in (38cm) high
