A ritual bronze wine vessel, gu
Shang dynasty
With a plain trumpet-form neck above a center section and spreading foot finely cast with taotie masks centered on thin flanges or seams and flush to the surface except for the eyes, the central bulb bracketed by two sets of three raised horizontal string bands, the lower pierced to either side with a small cross-form aperture.
