A Mughal-style jade box and cover
19th/20th century
The compressed globular body wrapped with raised floral decoration flanked by loop handles formed from the stems of a flowering branch and supporting free-moving ring handles, the underside of foliate form with a blossom at the center surrounded by a ruffled foot ring, the lid carved in relief with foliate borders and a finial in the form of a spiraling bud; the matrix of pale semi-transparent olive hue with some areas of icy white flecks.
