A carved yellow jade handled censer and cover
20th century
The well-hollowed, quatrelobed vessel standing on a conforming foot, its curving side walls carved with highly stylized chilong in low relief to the front and back against a background filled with connected scrolls, separated by taotie mask-decorated walls supporting animal head handles, each issuing a loop from its mouth and suspended with a loose ring, the similarly decorated cover well-fitted to the raised mouth; the yellow matrix polished to a soft luster, marked with areas in russet color and some natural fissure lines.
